The 2014 General Assembly of the IPCP will held on May 12, 2014, in connection with the 24th SETAC Europe Annual Meeting in Basel, Switzerland.

The Berlaymont Declaration on Endocrine Disruptors is still open for signature. You can sign via the IPCP website (form as MS Word document).

On May 1, 2013, the IPCP organized a Side Event on "Challenges for POPs monitoring – How can we use international synergies to support the effectiveness evalution under the Stockholm Convention?" at the Conference of the Parties of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants in Geneva. From April 18–20, 2012, an IPCP workshop on "In Search of Planetary Boundaries for Chemical Pollution" was held at Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden, with financial support by Formas, Sweden.

From 2010 to 2014, the project "Training on risk assessment of chemicals at national level in a global context" funded by the SAICM Quick Start Programme Trust Fund is conducted. The project started in May 2010 and is implemented by the governments of Armenia, Chile and Ghana with the IPCP as executing agency. The final workshop of the project will be held on June 24–25, 2014, in Stockholm, Sweden.

A summary of activities carried out under this project is provided here.


The IPCP collaborates with the UNEP Scientific Expert Group on Chemicals and the Environment on guidance materials for assessing the impact of chemicals on sensitive ecosystems. Guidance documents prepared by the expert group were presented and discussed at stakeholder workshops in Zambia (March 2012, in collaboration with the Zambia Environmental Management Agency), Tanzania (April 2012, in collaboration with the Government Chemistry Laboratory Agency of Tanzania), and Ghana (May 2012, in collaboration with the Ghana Environmental Protection Agency).


On October 28, 2010, the San Antonio Statement onf Brominated and Chlorinated Flame Retardants was published on-line by Environmental Health Perspectives. The Statement is a summary of the scientific knowledge about the unwanted properties of brominated and chlorinated flame retardants. An important aspect of the San Antonio Statement is that it addresses an entire group of chemicals and points to the underlying problem that for many years chemicals of concern have been replaced with similar chemicals of similar concern and that there is a need to develop a new perspective on fire protection.


Events: IPCP's fifth anniversary in November 2013!

On November 24, 2008, the IPCP was established as an association according to Swiss law.
